A wonderful charming doll ~ made with old machine and hand sewn stitches .. body is of old homespun .. face was made with very faded blue drawn face features for her eyes and mouth .. over that is another face that was done with an old herb mixture …
She is wearing a very nice early blue calico dress, and long black socks .. brown calico apron .. she has those classic turned out feet … her head and neck area have a stick inside her stuffing to keep her head straight which we see on many early dolls. She is 17 ¼” tall … sits nicely ..
She has nice old hand sewn stitches on her arm area that attaches to her shoulders and in her leg areas where they attaches to her hips.
She was found all those years ago when we would see nice early rag dolls that would come right out of farm houses in our area .. Those of us who know about early Pa. rag dolls know they are rare .. To find one as early as she is and others that I have on my web site is a once in a life time event.
